Speaking of Florida: Trump Joins Tea Party Rally, Blames "The Blacks" for Obama Victory

A poll shows low ratings for Obama and Palin with Independents in Florida, so that may be why Trump is heading there.

During an interview with Fred Dicker on Talk1300 things got 1950’s style racial when while discussing recent poll numbers, Trump lamented that he probably wouldn’t get the support from black people that he deserved. According to The New York Observer’s PolitickerNY, Trump blamed race for Obama ‘s election,

“I tell it like it is,” Trump said. “You’ll hear a political reporter go on and say it had nothing to do with race. But how come she had such a tiny piece of the vote? And you know, it’s a very sad thing.

“I have a great relationship with the blacks. I’ve always had a great relationship with the blacks. But unfortunately, it seems that, you know, the numbers you cite are very, very frightening numbers.”

Dicker said, somewhat rhetorically, that votes should always be based on merit, not on race.

“If that were the case, why did Hillary Clinton do so poorly?” Trump asked.

The bill, if enacted, would require state and local educational authorities to "assist teachers to find effective ways to present the science curriculum as it addresses scientific controversies" and permit teachers to "help students understand, analyze, critique, and review in an objective manner the scientific strengths and scientific weaknesses of existing scientific theories covered in the course being taught." The only examples provided of "controversial" theories are "biological evolution, the chemical origins of life, global warming, and human cloning." The sponsor of HB 368, Bill Dunn (R-District 16), claimed that the teaching of "intelligent design" would not be protected by the bill. Its chief lobbyist, David Fowler of the Family Action Council of Tennessee, claimed otherwise in the Chattanoogan (February 21, 2011).

If this is what it takes to muster up the conservative vote in America, it looks like there is a real competition to be first in line.  Let's see if this comes back to bite them later on, as a more moderate candidate is chosen.  There will predictably be fear mongering about Obama as "other" - it has already started with Trump taking on the "birther" mantle and Limbaugh's fairly racist rants about his wife. Someday, "change" really will be accepted more fully and this conservative backlash will recede into the background as these reactionaries lose ground to a younger, more diverse and progressive power base who are tech-savvy and think globally.

Gingrich addressed a Texas megachurch, specifically the church of Hagee, the controversial pastor associated with McCain's campaign in 2008 due to his remarks about the Holocaust and his association with the Christian Zionists.  Hagee praised Gingrich, in support of his obvious ploy to harness the votes of religious conservatives.
