"...Washington became the seventh state (plus the District of Columbia) to legalize same-sex marriage today, as Gov. Christine Gregoire signed legislation enacted last week. It won’t take effect, however, until June, and opponents are trying to get an initiative on the November ballot to reverse it (and if so, could succeed in obtaining a judicial order delaying implementation of the law pending the vote). Chris Christie has promised a veto.

Washington State is now a marriage equality state! Thank you to everyone who made this historic day possible. - Josh Castle, Seattle WA
My Dearest Washington, You make me so happy, I could cry. Thank you for recognizing equality. I stand here and make this promise to you, Washington State, that any person(s) or organization that attempts to fight the legalization of gay marriage, I will do my part to vote/lobby against it. My Catholic roots don't run THAT deep. - Andrea Hobbs, Seattle
