There isn't enough water here - wastewater will be cleaned and turned into drinking water.  As a civil engineer among the commenters points out, it's cleaner than alot of drinking water and the barriers are psychological.  This process is done in many parts of the world.  Another commenter points out that medications may pass through unfiltered.  (There is a video at the site.)
