Here's the mentality (satire or not), and below is an explanation.
Noam Chomsky talks about "Anti-politics" and how decades of corporate greed have confused people about what to be angry about. Everything is blamed on the government, which is potentially changeable. The corporations are fairly invisible and the average person doesn't know what's going on with them, but "the government is the shadow cast over society by business" (Dewey.) This video is from the Clinton era and the time of the Oklahoma City bombing but remains very relevant. (Thanks Doug Tarnapol)
