Her father revealed this, stating that those who can't afford private rehab facilities can face up to two year waits. One charity disputed this, but there is obviously a need for good rehab. Amy had apparently conquered her drug habit and had been sober for a short period. Toxicology reports aren't completed yet, but she was reported to have emphysema three years ago and at that time her father was very concerned about her smoking.
I did read that sales of Amy's recordings are skyrocketing since her death, as has happened with Michael Jackson and others. It will be nice if a portion of the profits ends up with the Foundation.
Such "patriots." Or as they said in the article, Tea P-aaarrr-ty Leaders ..
They were selling fake Rosetta Stone software for $125 each on Craigslist. A dissatisfied customer saw other copies of underpriced software when at the TP guy's home.
At the link above you can go to the website of the TP guy and see a photo of old people giving the finger. Enemies list includes Media Matters, Daily Kos, Students for a Democratic Society, MoveOn, Soros.
Michelle or Marcus? Just kidding .. the article does talk about how MB used to do her own makeup because she was too cheap to hire a makeup artist. How times have changed.
Payments of $1,715, $250, and $2,704 were disbursed to Tamara Robertson, a Maryland-based stylist. According to her LinkedIn profile, Robertson works as a makeup artist for Fox News.
In September 2008, the Republican National Committee spent $4,716.49 for hair and makeup services, largely thought to be for then-vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.
CHRIS MATTHEWS: How many days do you think we have, on the outside, to get this debt ceiling through before we have a problem? How many days?
LEE: I don’t know, maybe ten days.
MATTHEWS: Okay, in ten days you want to change the United States Constitution by two-thirds vote in both houses? That’s what you’re demanding.
LEE: Yes. If possible we can’t change the Constitution just in Congress but we can submit it to the states. Let the states fight it out.
MATTHEWS: And you think you’re being reasonable by saying you want a two-thirds vote in the House, which is Republican, and in the Senate which is Democrat. You want the Democratic Senate, by a two-thirds vote, to pass a constitutional amendment or you want the house to come down?
LEE: Yes. That’s exactly what I’m saying and I’ve been saying this for six months.
"As the thing started to unfold and there was a shooting at a political camp, which sounds a little like the Hitler Youth. Who does a camp for kids that's all about politics? Disturbing," Beck said on his program this morning.
A former press secretary to Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg called Beck's comment "a new low" for the former Fox News star, London's Daily Telegraph reports.
"Young political activists have gathered at Utoya for over 60 years to learn about and be part of democracy, the very opposite of what the Hitler Youth was about," he told the newspaper. "Glenn Beck's comments are ignorant, incorrect and extremely hurtful."
This guy Bolton is predictably running away as fast as he can from the fact that the Oslo killer has been proven to be a "right wing extremist." Even the commentator from FOX admits that the guy was a terrorist from the right, but Bolton tries to back pedal this.
There were more apologists at the Rupert Murdoch-owned Wall Street Journal, which was quick to pump out an editorial from the Norwegian right, against multiculturalism and with some railing against Islam in Europe.
Likewise, the Jerusalem Post weighed in, emphasizing the dangers of Islam and the dangers of multiculturalism. (The article points out that Europe may have approximately 8% Muslim population by 2030 .. gasp!!)
The Christian Science Monitor did a good job of pointing out the rightwing hedging. They also discussed a couple of US-based rightwing blogs. One, like FOX news, used the issue to bring up the NY mosque issue, since her blog is anti-Islam. The other took the opportunity to remind people that Jihadis are the main threat, in her opinion.
New York Times also highlighted the fact that the killings in Norway spotlight anti-Muslim thought in the US, parallel with that in Europe. The killer cited American anti-Islamic authors in his long monologue. Experts on counter-terrorism quickly pointed out that it is a mistake to focus on a single ideology. The Oslo killer was very connected with "JihadWatch" sites and blogs in the US, especially those that connect today's clash of civilizations with the historic periods of the Crusades.
