They have allowed existing union contracts in South Africa, to be able to open there.
In Mexico, 18% of its workers are unionized and in Argentina its workers make 40% more than competitors. In Brazil, Argentina, China, the United Kingdom, and now South Africa, some Walmart employees are organized. The UK reports good dealings with Walmart officials. Workers in Brazil and Argentina are able to unionize "because that's what the associates want."
In the US, Walmart fights unionization and has done so for at least two decades and they support Republican candidates who are union busters. One of their officials once called unions "parasites."
