There is never any reason to buy any food or drink at a Daily Kos event. After the keynote speakers and lunch, we headed out on a bus to the Mississippi for a labor rally with Labor International USA, with Ralph Ellison and Van Jones. On the ride back, a local Congressperson gave us a tour and answered questions about urban gardening, medical marijuana, etc.
One thing that stuck in my mind:
China spends 10% of its GDP on infrastructure. The US spends 3%.
The average American bridge is designed to last 50 years - the average age is 43 years.
This bridge here in Mpls is in fact the one that collapsed a few years ago.
Also enjoyed hearing the head of the union call the governor of Wisconsin a "jerkoff" and say that the Tea Baggers have their heads up their asses. It's true.
