This neighbourhood, less than five miles north of the heart of downtown Seattle, continues its legacy of public art, everyday weirdness, and off-the-wall-events inclined towards nudity and costumes. Yet its popularity, soaring rent prices, new luxury condos, and inundation of high tech company offices have transformed it into something a tad different than its tie-dyed forefathers and mothers anticipated.

Our previous foreign policy in the middle east puts us in the middle. We are not energy-independent and no longer hold much sway in the middle east. We are known for propping up dictators selectively to serve our own interest, especially for countries with resources we want. There has been no solution to the Israel-Palestine situation, which is highly symbolic. This trouble has been brewing for 30 years. What can we do except watch now. I took this video downtown. Yes, children are indoctrinated but I've done it with my own child - in the peace movement. It's kind of a natural thing to do. On the other hand, nationalism is only capable of short-term gains.
