Houston is changing - went there a long time ago and it already had some pretty cool areas. Met a local the other day (now working in Seattle at my favorite produce store) who said Houston has expanded since Hurricane Katrina. Alot of people in Houston aren't originally FROM Houston. And I read "openly gay" but it wasn't til I looked at the picture that I saw that the new Mayor of Houston is also female! So I'm going up to my title and changing it from "gay" to "lesbian." & I'll file this under "elections" and "fun." The words "dancing" and "ecstatic" are mentioned early on in the article and she won by a landslide.
The Brazilians elected a lesbian for mayor of the largest city south of the equator, São Paulo (currently close to 20 million people city), back in 1988.
