Fundación John Langdon Down - 2009 Instituto Cervantes, Tokyo, Japan. - That's the premier website and the best place, in general. The Mexican work in the galleries here are incredible. They are not in a form where I can embed them here. You'll just have to look, but the colors alone are so pleasant to the eye and soul! The Mexican work is more sophisticated than any where else because the Intitute really takes the time to support the artists and help them develop. If you've spent much time in Mexican museums, you'll know that they are comparable to those in Europe and sometimes more innovative.
I was hip to the potential of artists in this category through my work. I noted fairly consistent high visual memory but more difficulty with auditory memory (though verbal, not a problem with music and rhythm - more high skill strengths.) There was also a directness in capturing the "essence" - a departure form the detail in some of the art on the autistic spectrum, which captured more the exactness.
A student of mine "captured" Santa Claus without looking at any reference photo and without alot of fine motor skill at the time. Another did it with Spongebob, and the Hulk.
Haile King Rubie works out of Harlem and is quite talented. It is not terribly hard to find these people!
Michael Jurg Johnson has work for sale. Another recent exhibit by Daniella John Cano.
Great post!! i will repost this!
