I had been following this story - the owner is an American pacifist who also has a huge collection of original Dr. Seuss art. He had tried to cancel the sale, but the auction house did proceed with it and the items sold for $1.8 million at auction. They were bought by an Indian freight company for donation to the Indian government. What was sold - Gandhi's glasses, sandals, watch and a brass bowl and plate - with the proceeds going to promote pacifism.
