McCain Makes Baghdad Stop; 8th Iraq Trip
WTF
He links his political future to US "success" in Iraq. He's "meeting with Iraqi and US diplomatic & military officials" and details are "not released" for "security reasons" and there are "no news conferences."
He is staying for about 24 hours. We are paying for it. Lieberman & Lindsey Graham are with him. MaCain said it is a "fact-finding mission" and "not a campaign photo op."
As Howard Dean said, "The past few days, he's taken his campaign on a world tour at taxpayer expense."
Five-Deferment Cheney is also back from his taxpayer-sponsored middle east trip and claims the Iraq invasion was "successful" and reminds us we'll be there for years.
Even the Pope is losing patience.
"Enough with the slaughters. Enough with the violence. Enough with the hatred in Iraq!" Benedict said to applause at the end of his Palm Sunday Mass in St. Peter's Square.
UPDATE: According to Center for American Progress 3/15
IRAQ -- ONE YEAR LATER, MARKET WHERE McCAIN STROLLED 'FREELY' IS TOO UNSAFE TO VISIT: On April 1, 2007, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) strolled through the open-air Shorja market in Baghdad in an effort to prove that Americans are "not getting the full picture" of what's going on in Iraq. In a press conference after his tour, McCain told reporters that his visit to the market was proof that people could "walk freely" in parts of Baghdad. What McCain failed to mention was that he was accompanied by "100 American soldiers, with three Blackhawk helicopters, and two Apache gunships overhead." Since that trip, McCain has claimed that the situation in Iraq has improved even more. A few months ago, McCain claimed that "we've succeeded militarily" in Iraq. McCain is now back in Iraq for a "surprise visit with Iraqi and American diplomatic and military leaders." But it is unlikely he will be visiting the Shorja market again. Yesterday, CNN's John King reported that reporters tried to visit the Shorja market, but it was too unsafe and they were unable to go. "[O]ur own security advisers here in Iraq did not want us to go there," said King. "They didn't believe it was safe for an American to be in that area." King also noted that the area is now "controlled by the radical cleric Moqtada al Sadr's Mahdi army."
the video from Reuters In a British accent, the commentator talks about how Americans now concern themselves more with the ailing economy than with the rights and wrongs of war. :(
Look at how fucking stupid people are - McCain will probably have two terms.

If McCain truly cares about the integrity of American democracy, and is the man of honor he claims to be, he will bomb the Moonies back into the Stone Age.
And if he will do that, I will FULLY SUPPORT his candidacy.
My gut feelings say that he will cower before the Moonies, however.

Am I dreaming or was that the market where all the people
were murdered after McCain's former stroll through it?
