One Second of Bill Clinton (is better than 7 years of Bush)

"No cameras allowed" but I got one second of Bill Clinton at University Bookstore, Seattle. The line snaked for blocks but I hid in the Children's section til kicked out, then stretched on my toes with a bunch of students.

Good for you, slugbug!

I remember shaking hands with Bill Clinton 7 years ago this week, when he visited Oakland, California to get the Democratic faithfuls to vote for Al Gore.

People told me afterwards to wash my hand, because of Monica Lewinsky stains. But I'd rather have that than all the blood on W's hands.

Clinton was far from perfect... but he was a competent president. W is not.

So many celebrity sightings while I was away, I can't even wait until the end of the column to share this one: Bill Clinton sharing a cozy private dinner with Bill and Melinda Gates at Troiani in downtown Seattle. The trio dined on salmon and lobster mac and cheese and apparently had so much to talk about that Clinton was late to his book signing afterward. Mr. Gates was heard to say: "Mr. President, I think you have to go." One wonders: Which Bill picked up the bill? ...
