Remember how people used to tell you not to talk to strangers, let alone sit on their lap and tell them secrets? "Santa Has A Boner" seems like a song the Ramones could have written. Alot of people are scared of clowns, even as adults. What about Snowmen? Remember that song about Frosty? "..alive as he could be.." What was that about? They're secular so they can pop up anywhere, without controversy, but they're just another wierd adult kids are supposed to trust. & I think they're pretty creepy! So, apparently, does El Vez, who is in the red jumpsuit. The neon guy is at the Apple Store. I had to travel around a bit, but found the yard Snowmen even in yuppified Seattle.
Ummm... I am pretty stunned at the Sexual Assault Center's wish for a nice holiday. Anyone going there is probably going there because they have a trauma to deal with. At Christmas time. I understand where they are coming from... but maybe they should re-think how they word it, like: All of us here at THE CENTER wish...
I was never afraid of snowmen -- just the boys who built them.
But I gotta agree.... that santa dude is pretty creepy. It never seemed right. But being the ham I was as a kid... I did not miss the photo op.

Lordy. Just came across this nice headline:
Mall Santa diagnosed as being a Meningitis Carrier!
http://wtol.com/Global/story.asp?S=5853921
Lordy!
The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department received a report Saturday that a patient admitted at St. Lukes Hospital on December 21, 2006 was an asymptomatic carrier of the bacteria that causes meningitis (neisseria meningitides).
clip
The Health Department recommends that any children exposed to the Southwyck Mall Santa Claus on these dates and times see their physician, as preventative antibiotics may be recommended.

Anyone finding especially interesting holiday decor in the vicinity of where they live please link to it here or send jpeg & add on!
Also curious how many people know what a "seasonal sweater" is.

"Seasonal Sweaters"? Any sweater christmas paraphenalia on it. Bridge Jones' Diary encapsulates the feel of them quite well. Calls them "jumpers"... cause only kids should wear 'em.

I think Jumper is British for Sweater, like Lorry means Truck.
It sounds really funny - grown men saying, "This is a lovely jumper."

I was watching some movie or another this week... the londoners kept using the term "bolox". A bunch of Bolox. I liked that.

Remember when cartoons with guys with stars for eyes
meant they were seriously drunk. HMMMM is that the
drunken snowman in that picture.
Maybe someone should put a post-it note on the sign at
the assault center that says: Is this sign appropriate
under the circumstances? Are they closed for the holidays or WHAT???
Looks like someone did some
ripping
on the sign. Makes a person wonder if that was done
out of pure frustration with the message.
One thing about snowmen that nobody has brought up
is that the real ones are totally unreliable and they
melt away at the slightest bit of the light and warmth
of day. These model ones probably are fairly
innocuous but if there was a human in a snow man suit
there could be concerns about more than health.
(pedophile? sp?)

The photos are of a broad range
suitable for a documentary on snowmen and
snow persons. hahaha

Hi Julie:
You said: "Makes a person wonder if that was done
out of pure frustration with the message."
I actually envision a mindful Center employees trying like hell to take that sign away from the 'happy executive' who was intent on putting up a holiday wish for their visitors. :-) We can see who won.

Bollocks, I'll bet! It means "balls!" - that's even cooler.
Can you imagine going around in American talking about balls?
What was Sex Pistols' 1st album? "Never Mind the Bollocks"?
refers to male genitalia, but used many different ways; “Ah, that’sa load of bollocks!” etc., and as a general expression of dismay
Am listening to "What I Am" by Edie Brickell & the New Bohemians.
It sounds good.
Great lyrics
"What I Am"
I'm not aware of too many things
I know what I know, if you know what I mean
Philosophy is the talk on a cereal box
Religion is the smile on a dog
I'm not aware of too many things
I know what I know, if you know what I mean, d-doo yeah
Choke me in the shallow waters
Before I get too deep
What I am is what I am
Are you what you are or what?
What I am is what I am
Are you what you are or
Oh, I'm not aware of too many things
I know what I know, if you know what I mean
Philosophy is a walk on the slippery rocks
Religion is a light in the fog
I'm not aware of too many things
I know what I know, if you know what I mean, d-doo yeah
Choke me in the shallow water
Before I get too deep
What I am is what I am
Are you what you are or what?
What I am is what I am
Are you what you are or what?
What I am is what I am
Are you what you are or what?
What I am is what I am
Are you what you are or what you are and
What I am is what I am
Are you what you are or what?
Don't let me get too deep
Don't let me get too deep
Don't let me get too deep
Don't let me get too deep
Choke me in the shallow water
Before I get too deep
Choke me in the shallow water
Before I get too deep
Choke me in the shallow water
Before I get too deep
Choke me in the shallow water
Before I get too deep

Oh man I'm listening to Nina Hagen .. in German

I'll look for YouTube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plek41IdWD8
Listen also to "African Reggae"
Saw her a couple of times - once she came down in a space ship.
Another time she came to a club called "T.U.G.S." - after performing at the Showbox.
