Bert recently brought us a Photo Essay on the Election of Senator Al Franken that started last year at the Minnesota State Fair that featured some of the works dedicated to The Great State of Minnesota's United States Senator, Mister Al Franken.
This year, well, I'll just let Doctor Rachels do the talking:
Visit msnbc.com for Breaking News, World News, and
Here's Bert's original post and the Portrait of United States Senator Al Franken made using seeds:
Handsome, isn't he?

BREAKING!!!! This one is totally worthy of a Drudge Siren...
The Up Is Down, Air Is Wet, Water Is Dry, Black Is White, White Is Black, Day Is Night, Night Is Day World we've all been living lately has taken a new turn.
Peggy Noonan just broke her old boss's 11th Commandment:
"Thou Shalt Not Speak Ill of a Fellow Republican."
And this time, not on accident in front of a hot mike, using a Barn Yard Epithet either.
No, no, no.
Margaret Ellen didn't just stray of the Reservation, she went to town on dear Sister Sarah, with a kindler, gentler, rat-a-tat-tat, machine gun hand.

SB...4620819351.html
Who knew the Thousand Points of Light were the glints coming off of razor sharp daggers?
Unbelievable.
I'm not even going to quote any of the zingers here, because the thing is just one relentless slam after another.
Noonan Unbound.
Joe Bob Briggs sez check it out.
If the comments are any indication, she's about to get the same crash course Chris Buckley got last year in what the seething underbelly of the Republican Party has devolved into.
Drove Buckley away from the organization his Dad founded and right into the waiting arms of Tina Brown.
This is a slaughter.
At this juncture I think what we are going to see from here on in is a complete fracturing of the Republican Party, spear-headed by Palin and her die hard supporters such as Hannity, Limbaugh, etc, etc, et al.
They, the True Conservatives, are going to splinter off and form their own Conservative Party. All their rhetoric on AM radio and in the blogosphere has been trending in that direction, for years now, and Peggy's little Declarations of War on Palin might be the thing that gets the ball really rolling towards that.
Here's the thing.
In a 3 way race, if things get bad enough, and stay bad by late 2012, a rabble rouser like Palin could easily beat a sitting Incumbent.
Especially if she has the full weight of the Media Apparatus that Murdoch built behind her.
Do not misunderstimate her, or the Power Mad people behind her.

I'm not a real big devotee of Twitter, since for the most part I find it to be a mile wide and a millimeter deep, mostly flash and very substance.
But it is perfectly suited to, and an accurate reflection of this ADHD world we are mired in.
I find this description of life in America from 30 years ago to be an accurate description of the phenomenon:
"...the stream of national consciousness moves faster now, and is broader, but it seems to run less deep. The old channels cannot contain it and in its search for new ones there seems to be growing havoc and destruction along its banks...."
However, that being said, I can't dismiss its impact on breaking events in Iran, since it seems the whole country, according to Andrew Sullivan, had a Howard Beale moment last night as a direct result of a single Twitter message, which compelled the citizenry to rise up on their feet and take to the streets.
Impressive.
Here's Howard Beale inspiring the masses, (pay attention to the shouting from the rooftops at the 4 minute mark), in the movie Network:
And here's the 140, (or less), character message that sparked the movement into the streets:
Here's what's going on in the street, as a result of that single message:
And here is a protestor protecting an Iranian Peace Officer from an unruly crowd:
(H/T to Robert George, over at his at Ragged Thots Blog, my favorite rational moderate Republican, whose doing a damn sight more than Chris Buckley to unfluck what's left of that Party, for bringing this 'The Revolution Will Be Blithely Pre-Empeted on CNN by Water Skiing Squirrels And Twittered Instead' sequence of events to my attention)

Just submitted the below to this latest Whine and Cheese Pity Party of Maureen Dowd's in today's NYT where she bemoans the death of the American Newspaper as Venerable and Right Revered Institution.
Enjoy.

According to the NY Observer, Meghan McCain (known for airhead blog, arguments with talking heads about who's fat, and having a political father and beer distributor heir mother) will be writing a book and being paid well for it. The press (Hyperion) is owned by Disney, which seems about right.
Her first book was a picture book entitled, "My Dad, John McCain."
If I am reading Wonkette correctly, this next book could be a romance novel.

We start talking about Ann Coulter at about the 38 minute mark.
One the creepiest conversations I have ever had, and this is my 20th day here and this completely confirms that I made the right decision in leaving the USA.
There are way too many of these vile people in America now for me to feel safe there anymore.
I felt unclean for hours afterwards, ugh, and even a long hot soak didn't help.
This gchat with a frend gives some context to the above clip....
