Norman Rockwell was probably the other most famous literalist popular painter. This one is amusing. It's called "The Tattoo."
Other very representational "art" can be seen at Hempfest and on New Age greeting cards, and on Yes album covers, "fantasy" books and so on. Consider the people wearing wolf T-shirts.
Then there is that Nieman fellow who painted in restaurants and bars then later turned to sports and celebrities.
In Nazi Germany, non-representational art was banned as "decadent."
My son put himself in place of Robert Palmer in the photo of mannekins, for a band poster. Now check this out (it was one of those Facebook shareable things.)
Remember last election cycle? There were all those sites where you could make your own Obama-type poster? (Now there would be phone apps.) Here is one that was posted this morning by a local film maker.
