When I was in graduate school, a colleague at UW put cooked squirrel roadkill from campus in my mailbox, with tart apple. & I know a guy with alot of fruit trees in his yard and he traps squirrels and rabbits to eat. Many people raise chickens, ducks, geese in town. This squirrel eater lives in my neighborhood. I saw a grey squirrel in my yard this morning, but I'm not ready to cook it.
The cook teaches urban foraging. She refers to herself and her husband as "upper middle class." Squirrels are eaten in the UK and are featured in the "Joy of Cooking."
Seattle allows eight chickens and three goats in each yard.
We also have raccoons, possums and even silver wolves running around, and lots of wild rabbits near Green Lake.
