This is the wierdest yet. It comes from The Nation. Fascinating article - scary.
Huge Christian families. One 44 year old described in the article lives in Georgia and has eight children. A 39 year old form Kentucky has fourteen. Another has thirteen. Another is 27 and from Illinois and has only 4 children but plans "two teams." They like to call themselves "Quiverfull." This comes from Psalm 127: "Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver if full of them. They will not be put to shame when they content with their enemies in the gate." They are party of an army for God.
Other tenets: at least six children, homeschooling, father knows best, female submissiveness. There are probably at least 10,000 such families in the US. Birth control is considered the province of prostitutes and feminism is considered incompatible with Christianity.
Maybe there is a plot to make us all Quiverfulls.
