Octomom plans to film a British reality TV series in which the birthday parties and other occasions involving her brood of 14 will be filmed for public consumption. She doesn't want her show to look like the one that already exists where Septomom's husband screwed around with a young teacher. American networks did not buy the series so far, but they will probably show up here eventually.
She will also have her life story written by the ghost writer who wrote the story of Madonna's brother and she will reveal more things about Donor Dad that are probably best left to the imagination.
STATEMENT FROM THE PRESIDENT ON THE MURDER OF DR. GEORGE TILLER
I am shocked and outraged by the murder of Dr. George Tiller as he attended church services this morning. However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence.
Bobbleheads like O'Reilly and Glenn Beck have pumped up the volume and made violence more likely by the unhinged.
All told, according to statistics provided by the National Abortion Federation and not including this morning's murder, since 1977, there have been seven murders, 17 attempted murders, 41 bombings, 175 arsons, 96 attempted bombings or arsons, 390 invasions, 1400 cases of vandalism, 1993 cases of trespassing, 100 butyric acid attacks, 659 anthrax threats, 179 cases of assault and battery, 406 death threats, four kidnappings, 151 burglaries, and 525 cases of stalking specifically directed at clinics, their workers, or their volunteers in the US and Canada. That's over 6,100 cases of terrorist activity by the "pro-life" movement. And that's just what was reported -- the actual numbers are probably much higher.
Here is my own reaction, as a human being.
Single-issue fanatics have never shown any consistency nor proven that they are not actually "anti-choice" rather than "pro-life." Unless they are like Ed Sanders of The Fugs who would not even kill a bug, they are inconsistent and should use another term. There are plenty of "pro-choice" people who are in no way "anti-life" or "pro-abortion." "Pro-choice" people who might not agree with late-stage abortion would not condone killing a physician in his own church.
Here are some more ethical issues that these Crusaders lack consistency on.
How can one justify war and the innocent civilians killed, including children and fetuses?
They justify the killing of the innocents by professing that God is on our side, that our security has been breached, that our "freedom" is being defended. This does not jibe with being "pro-life." Nor does talking about who should be "nuked," as a knee-jerk reaction. In what way is being xenophobic "pro-life?"
How can one justify capital punishment and the taking of a human life by the state and be pro-life?
They may say that the criminal made bad choices or that it's a deterrent or somehow achieves vengeance. Most of the world finds this barbaric. So many at wingnut sites get all bent out of shape about beheading (as in some Muslim countries and as formerly done in France) but have no problem with the electric chair and lethal injections?
How can one be so strongly against death with dignity acts yet justify so many ways of extending life via extreme medical treatments - especially when quality of life may still be poor?
They somehow justify expensive means to prolong life yet seek to deny others the choice to forgo such treatment or to seek help in terminating life to shorten intense pain and suffering. Not only that, but some who do not believe in evolution still accept treatment for their cancers. Cancers have to do with viral malfunctions, and the way viruses operate is via evolution. If there was no evolution, there would be no cancer.
How can so many claim to be "pro-life" yet deny a basic decent standard of living for the vulnerable and the young, poor, disabled and elderly?
It's not hard to read or hear broadcasts where people say openly that they hate to help with school lunch programs, basic health care, public schools, and other services for the "greater good." They may consider only their own family or believe that the church will take care of everything and the government not be involved. In what way is acting racist and selfish with our resources and refusing to pay taxes for legitimite services "pro-life?"
How is it that everyone must procreate if they are heterosexual, and no one can who isn't?
What is so "natural" about tiny pre-term, barely viable infants who spend months in the ICU or multiple births (think Octomom) using in vitro and surrogate methods? It's expensive for everyone to procreate and not everyone is cut out to do so. What is the point of denying the right to have and raise children to gay and lesbian couples?
What would happen if every American had exposure to basic Ethics and Biology in school? I would think that we would have lower rates of teen pregnancy, abortion, poverty, murder, incarceration, drug addiction, war, violence, obesity and gun violence in the first place. Consistency in morality and/or religion (which may overlap) based on combining some rational thought with human empathy and compassion would go along way.
I have seen titles like "Wikipedia Blocks Church of Scientology From Editing Entries" lately, and here is one news story about why. Wikipedia has banned them from editing their articles because they have repeatedly made edits of anything remotely critical. Wikipedia prides itself on being open, but their arbitration council ruled 10-1 against Scientology and is banning all their IP addresses and editors. Hubbard's Scientology has been at war with others on the internet for years because they are said to be a cult and they do in fact suck their members dry financially. The "church" has not returned messages to reporters who ask for comment.
I read about this and thenlike clockwork, I get a message from an organization called "Chanology." (Facebook account? Check it out!)
Name one thing you're doing on August the 1st. The vast majority of you have no clue because the vast majority of you have no lives (MUCH like myself). So why don't we entertain ourselves by overthrowing a fake religion again?

Below, release from the Republican National Committee... they did not like the idea of the Obama's Date Night because they do not like anything the Obamas do nor do they like the Obamas.

Obama Says He Understands Americans' Economic Troubles
Obama: "There Are Still Too Many Americans Out Of Work, And Too Many Who Still Worry That Their Job May Be Next. There Are Still Too Many Families Struggling To Pay The Bills, And Too Many Businesses Struggling To Keep Their Doors Open." (President Barack Obama, Remarks At Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, NV, 5/27/09)
Obama Said He Carried Stories Of Struggling Workers With Him To The White House. "We're talking about people who've lost their livelihood and don't know what will take its place. We're talking about parents who've lost their health care and lie awake at night praying their kids don't get sick. We're talking about families who've lost the home that was the corner, their foundation for their American dream, young people who put that college acceptance letter back in the envelope because they just can't afford it.
blah blah blah blah blah (like the RNC gives a shit about any of that in the first place - like we taxpayers didn't pay $100,000 for the red carpet Bush walked on at Normandy once..) blah blah blah blah blah
Obama May Joke About Air Force One Joy Rides
Obama: "Now Sasha And Malia Aren't Here Tonight Because They're Grounded. You Can't Just Take Air Force One On A Joy Ride To Manhattan. (Laughter.) I Don't Care Whose Kids You Are. (Laughter.)" (President Barack Obama, Remarks To The White House Correspondents Association Dinner, Washington, DC, 5/9/09)
But Americans Have Seen This Show Before President Bill Clinton Blocked Two Runways At One Of World's Busiest Airports To Get His Hair Cut. "President Clinton got a full-blown $200 haircut from Beverly Hills' Monsieur Cristophe at Los Angeles International Airport while Air Force One idled for nearly an hour, blocking ground traffic a nd closing two runways." (Frank J. Murray, "Clinton Stops Traffic With Pricey New Cut," The Washington Times, 5/21/93)
This crap comes from an oxymoronic place called the "RNC Research Department."
Maybe they can politicize this video somehow, in which President Obama eats a hamburger. It tells which condiments he used and he is not with Joe Biden.
Here, PA wingnuts ran a newspaper ad which had to be pulled. The ad copy editors did not even recognize the significance when they first ran it (testiment to the great literacy level...)
I bought some sheet music in a Twin Cities thrift store from WWI and WWII. One song from WWII titled "We're on the warpath now" is obviously pro-war, but the other one titled "If I'm not at the roll call, kiss mother good-bye for me", may be anti-war. We think of anti-war music as being associated with the Vietnam war or the Iraq war, but there has been significant anti-war sentiment and anti-war music for most of America's wars. Below is some background about a song from WWI.
“I Didn’t Raise My Boy to Be a Soldier”: Singing Against the War
By 1915, Americans began debating the need for military and economic preparations for war. Strong opposition to “preparedness” came from isolationists, socialists, pacifists, many Protestant ministers, German Americans, and Irish Americans (who were hostile to Britain). One of the hit songs of 1915, “I Didn’t Raise My Boy to Be a Soldier,” by lyricist Alfred Bryan and composer Al Piantadosi, captured widespread American skepticism about joining in the European war. Meanwhile, interventionists and militarists like former president Theodore Roosevelt beat the drums for preparedness. Roosevelt’s retort to the popularity of the antiwar song was that it should be accompanied by the tune “I Didn’t Raise My Girl to Be a Mother.” He suggested that the place for women who opposed war was “in China—or by preference in a harem—and not in the United States.”
The history of anti-war songs goes back to the 1800s with "Johnny I hardly Knew Ye." This anti-draft Irish folk song has graphic lyrics and was also sung during the US Civil War to the tune "When Johnny Comes Marching Home":
Where are the legs with which you run, When first you went to carry a gun Indeed your dancing days are done Johnny I hardly knew ya
Listen to the embedded video by Joan Baez, who sang a version of this folk song in 1974 during the Vietnam War.
