I see we have a new category called "Bush Depression" - last I'd seen was "Wingnut Alert."
What happened since I last checked in - two consecutive blizzards - it got down to 45 below with windchill. Interstate 94 and Interstate 29 were both closed - for two days. I had to call and cancel
work and rebook our flights. Finally we made it from Jamestown to Fargo (90 miles) and we now
have a hot tub, a pool, a bar with some kind of gambling and a whole lot of college students who
may not make it to Ft. Lauderdale for spring break, and hi-speed internet (we'll see about that.) - it turns out to be slow, like a modem, but it is free.
What I have been doing:
Watching "PeeWee Polka" which comes out of a suburb of the Twin Cities - the host is
a woman named Bev Rambough (pronounced Rambo)
Alternatively, "Polar Plunge," in which costumed animals dive into frigid water to benefit
Special Olympics
Having dinner with people who had "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren prominently
displayed on the coffee table
Reading old copies of The Smithsonian (the article on Van Gogh's night paintings was best)
Eating buffalo meat and elk jerky
Listening to the complete box set of Barry White bought accidentally by my mom - on
Bose speakers
Watching the live web cam of Main Street Jamestown, in which road graders and giant pickup
trucks full of snow drove back and forth to classical music (sampled every two seconds)
UPDATE:
"Not only is there a pool and hot tub, but there is an outdoor pool with a giant snow drift on it - a great photo op for you. There is a Chinese buffet down the street that looks good with 70 items for 8 bucks. Here is some ice cold hard cider and "Open" - the premier city magazine for women in the Fargo/Moorehead area."
