They'll stop at nothing! I was just reading about problems in Texas. People were complaining that their votes were shifting from Obama to McCain and even when they voted "straight ticket" Democrat, some votes were automatically going to Republicans.
"When I voted yesterday electronically, the first vote that you vote for on the ballot is the presidential candidate. It was my first time doing electronic, so I didn't mark the X strong enough, or I held down too long. Because then when I went back to check it, it had not recorded my presidential vote," she said.

She then simulated her meltdown, shaking and breathing heavily while stuttering out the words, "It didn't record my presidential vote."
Gosh. Oprah didn't seem to care when Kerry or Gore lost votes to suppression and Diebold. Had Oprah TALKED about it on her show, she could have save us 8 years of bad policies!

Oprah wasn't that political, given her fame and money. She has become more so, I think. Some of her movies, such as the first one I saw her in, had political import embedded within, such as "The Color Purple." She has been a good role model for all women, I think, and was at least at one time the most rich African-American person in America.
It wasn't up to her to make a political statement in 2000 or 2004, though it would have been nice if she had. Nor is it evident she became informed about the problems with voting - maybe to some degree - but it would also have been nice if someone could have successfully gotten that through to her, as she had a good forum.
I do not really blame Oprah, nor think that she alone could have had as much clout as some might with in 2000, 2004 or 2008. I am just glad she finally came out as a private citizen and early for Obama, as I do believe she helped in Iowa probably more than since.
Thank you Oprah anyway!
