Harold's is a chain that is different than most other chicken eateries. According to the Wikipedia, Harold's cooks its chicken in mixture that includes beef tallow while other places have switched to vegetable oil. This gives the chicken a home-cooked taste. I wanted to try the okra and hush puppies, but the $5 chicken meal I ordered filled me up. It came with a sassy hot sauce that, by tradition, is spread over the chicken and the fries before the meal. I didn't eat the white bread.
Good thing Barack doesn't have a steady diet of this food. While it might taste good, it will certainly shorten your life.
That makes me hungry because we have a place called Ezell's which is so good (spicy greasy chicken) that Oprah Winfrey used to have it flown to her in Chicago.
I like fried greasy food with fancy small brewery ales, especially McMenamin's Ruby Ale from Oregon, which
compares with the best Belgians.

One of the best chicken joints is that one they have in New Orleans - can't think of the name of the chain but it is really greasy and good! There is something about chicken and hot grease.
The worst one was in Brooklyn - filthy bathroom and we were scared to eat there. It was a KFC franchise but obviously overlooked by the Health Department.
I am listening to Karen Carpenter sing a very slow version of "Ticket to Ride," for some reason.
I would think the bus was more fun than a plane.

We can try the New Orleans place next November.
I read in the new Rolling Stone that Karen Carpenter is one of their top 100 singers of all time. Why wasn't Nat King Cole on their list?

I thought their list sucked.

Hey Kayak.... don't diss that chicken as being bad for you. I fully recall the pictures of MN's state fair contest for deep frying all sorts of manner of things. Could never forget it actually.
I LOVE Karen Carpenter!
Nat wasn't on the list because his voice was heavenly. :-)

Karen Carpenter is ok and I don't mind her name on the list, but mentioning her points out that Frank Sinatra's name wasn't omitted because of the genre.

Well I would like to try the okra as long
as they don't cook it in beef fat - gag
