Taken in downtown Minneapolis as the Holidazzle Parade was going by. A group of us in solidarity with the Copenhagen climate activists went down Nicolet Mall just a few minutes before the parade started, chanting "Save the planet. Stop the war!" We had a couple of banners and signs that said "Create 2 million Green Jobs"; "350" and "1 Sky". C R
Location: The Big House 529 19th Avenue Seattle, WA 98122 US View Map When: Saturday, December 19, 4:00PM Add to my iCal Calendar Phone: 206-324-0421 First thing you want to do is change your other obligations to accommodate coming to this party. Here's why: 1. Melissa and Abil and Rebecca and Jessica and Elske are throwin' down for a BIG party that will rock the house and iritate the neighbors who decided not to come! (Neighbors, take note.) 2. There will be loud music and dancing. 3. The house will be decorated with cookies...that you can eat! Whoa! 4. There will be drinks and other libations flowing freely into your mouth. 5. The food alone will be worth coming for.
Any questions? Abil, what kind of party is it? It is two distinct holiday parties. The first party goes from 4:00 until 8:00. Come to this party if you are bringing the kids or if you want to come to both parties. The second party goes from 9:00 until the last sleepy drunk walks barefoot to their taxi and slams their skirt in the door.
The former GOP vice presidential contender was snapped in Hawaii this week wearing an old McCain for President visor - only she had blacked out the letters of her one-time running mate, leaving just a faint outline of his name.
Much clearer was the message on her T-shirt: "If you don't love America," it read on the front, "then why don't you get the hell out," it advised on the back.
(New York Daily News, my favorite tabloid - link above!)
Sarah Palin said she cut short her Hawaii vacation because of paparazzi, who photographed her wearing a sun visor with the name of John McCain blacked out.
“In an attempt to ‘go incognito,’ I Sharpied the logo out on my sun visor so photographers would be less likely to recognize me and bother my kids or other vacationers,” Palin said in a statement. “I am so sorry if people took this silly incident the wrong way. I adore John McCain.”
Just reading the newsletter for my professional organization - 21.7% cuts coming to Medicare & Medicaid. Senate couldn't muster the 60 votes to hold this off.
Thanks to Glenda T for reminding me of this:
You, the taxpayer, are subsidizing 72% of the healthcare insurance that our Congressional representatives receive. Yet, they cannot bring themselves to give their constituents exactly what they have through the generosity of each one of us. Here is Ted Kennedy on this issue.
Allow the video to down load then scroll the bar to around 3:35 to hear his comments on this issue. Man, we miss him.
Mike Ruppert, who predicted the current economic collapse 5 years before it happened, is in Seattle this weekend to promote his documentary film “Collapse.” This film was the Toronto Film Festival’s “buzz” film. It is about Ruppert’s predictions for extreme economic turmoil as a consequence of “peak oil” if we fail to take action.
It is playing at the Varsity, 4329 University Way NE. Tonight, Friday it shows at 7:15 and 9:25. Mike Ruppert will be at both showings. Tomorrow it shows at 4:30 and 7:15 and he will be at those showings as well.
Ruppert is a former Los Angeles police officer and investigative reporter. He is super intelligent and his books, connecting the dots of various world events, are thoroughly researched.
The UK Guardian reports : Two International Energy Agency whistleblowers have come forward with startling claims about the world's supply of crude oil.
This year in University Place we attended two memorials. One sponsored by University Place Station Bar Grill, the other a private affair by a local family aided by Vietnam Vets. In both cases the individuals who died had passed away due to lack of medical care because they were under or uninsured and could not afford to see a doctor or were afraid to seek medical care due to the costs. The deaths could have been prevented had they had good medical care.
Providing decent basic medical care and health education at a fair price prevents needless deaths and suffering as well as helping to avoid financial disasters for American families. President Obama should not fear lack of support if he stands up and speaks out for doing the right thing.
Doing the right thing is the only thing to do.
A healthy America is a strong America. We are not advocating for just health care but a new attitude towards increasing wellness, which means decreasing our ever growing problem with diabetes and hypertension and cancers related to environmental factors and nutritional deficiencies and decreasing infant mortality. Don't we want a strong America?
Look at the facts, think about what you would do if you had a sick child or relative or spouse. Call your Senators and demand real protection from evil profiteers...send emails to your family, your friends regardless of party affiliation. This is not a party issue...this is an American issue.
This is not happening in 3rd world country my fellow Americans.... This is happening in our neighborhood and to our neighbors and friends, our family members.
Blessings to you this Christmas Season, Long Life to Tiny Tim!
